Planning Policy
This Page
What is Planning Policy? One of the major responsibilities of the Policy team was the production of the Arun District Local Plan which was adopted in 2003. This document forms a statement of Arun District Council's planning policies and proposals for the District and is a component of the Development Plan. The team works on the monitoring and review of the Local Plan policies, and provides advice to the Development Control Team to assist them in their assessment of planning applications and advice to the public. Much has changed since the Local Plan was adopted, including extensive revision of national planning policy guidance by the Government. As part of this, Local Plans need to be replaced with a new set of documents, known collectively as the Local Development Framework (or LDF). The documents outline the spatial planning strategy for the local area and will set out the Council's policies for meeting the community's economic, environmental and social aims for the future. Find out more about our Local Development Framework.
Saved Policies The Secretary of State has granted consent for Arun District Local Plan policies to be saved under the provisions of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004. View the Saved Policies
