Archive - Businesses Unite to Pay For Improved Security Over Festive Period COMPANIES on a Bognor Regis business park blighted by acts of criminal damage and vandalism have joined forces to pay for a private security firm to patrol the area over Christmas and New Year.
South Bersted Business Park has employed Guardian Facilities to carry out the checks, which started before Christmas. The patrols could remain in place indefinitely if successful.
Businesses agreed to the scheme after enduring nine months of regular damage, theft and anti social behaviour.
The private security patrols have been agreed as part of a wider initiative to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour in the area.
Eighteen businesses from Durban Road, Heath Place and Ash Grove Industrial Areas, including Arun District Council and West Sussex County Council, which both own premises in these areas, all agreed to pay an equal amount to fund the patrols at a recent meeting.
Chris Shephard, Arun District Council’s Business Parks Co-ordinator said:
"This goes to show that if businesses unite, and purchase goods and services together, they can achieve more than if they do it independently.
“Everybody wants a safer community for their staff, and their business, so paying for it together makes sense.”
