Bognor Regis Community College Progress | Site Overview | Planning Applications
Work on site is in full swing, for regular updates follow this link to the Building Schools for the Future website where you can view live progress on the location webcam! Bognor Regis Community College is due to benefit from a £46m modernisation, which will involve the construction of a completely new and modern campus. This represents a very significant investment into education and skills facilities on the Coastal West Sussex strip, and in particularly the Pevensey ward, where skills and educational attainment levels are some of the poorest in the County and significantly below national and regional averages. West Sussex County Council (as local education authority) were successful in obtaining significant funding (£35m) from the Government's Building School for the Future One School Pathfinder scheme, and selected Bognor Regis Community College to be the recipient of funding for this project. Plans for Bognor Regis Community College, also include the amalgamation of Michael Ayres Junior School and The Glade Infant School, which are on the same site as Bognor Regis Community College. In addition to the college and infant school provisions, a new youth centre for 11 to 19 year olds has been given the go-ahead after securing a £1.5m lottery grant. Named the Phoenix Centre, it will house a number of state of the art facilities including performing arts, sports and media. The new centre is currently being designed with hopes to start construction in the summer of 2010. A full programme of public consultation on the plans has been included by the College to encourage local participation on the project. Top >>
