Getting Involved

Arun's Parks & Greenspace service recognises the value and importance of working with and involving local people on issues relating to parks & open spaces. We currently have 14 associated groups connected with various sites across the Arun district, and are looking to set up more groups in the future.

Surveying

The role and remit of these groups can vary. In many cases members from the groups get involved in practical work within parks such as bulb planting, litter picking, surveys, event organising and tree planting. Our groups also hold meetings with Arun's Parks Officers to discuss management issues and actively work with the Parks & Greenspace to improve the overall quality of the sites.

Community Groups Conference
A Conference was held in November 2009 to recognise and celebrate the value of conservation volunteers and community involvement within Arun's parks and greens spaces.  The Conference provided a forum for sharing of ideas and expertise and outlined Arun's commitment to working in partnership with volunteers in the future.  If is proposed that this will become an annual event.
