Environmental Education In 2007 Arun’s Clean & Safe team scooped a coveted nationally recognised Green Apple Award for their Clean & Safe Education Programme for local schools. The programme reached over 5,000 pupils and covered many of the key stage 1,2 and 3 targets for schools.
![]() The programme concentrates on educating children about environmental issues such as recycling, water use and antisocial behaviour. Arun’s Parks & Greenspace service have been working with the Clean & Safe team to add a ’green’ element to the programme and have come up with a number of site based educational opportunities to promote the environmental aspects of Arun’s parks and open space.
Parks and Greenspace will be offering activities such as pond dipping, wildlife surveys and bug hunts as well as talks on a wide range of habitats at sites such as West Beach Local Nature reserve and Hotham Park.If your school would like to become more involved at one of our parks you can also call us on 01903 737951 to discuss, or email parks@arun.gov.uk
