Green Waste Collection 
As a result of the scheme's successful uptake PRICES HAVE BEEN FROZEN FROM MARCH 2010 to FEBRUARY 2011

A garden waste collection service, called the "Green Waste Club" is available to Arun residents for a charge. Members of the Green Waste Club will receive fortnightly collection of garden waste from the front of their property. Garden waste collected through the service is composted at a local composting facility. The cost of this service includes the hire of a brown wheely bin.
This service is provided by Verdant, Arun District Council's contractors.

Costs for March 2010 - February 2011:
- The cost for subscription to the Green Waste Service is £70.80 inclusive of VAT and delivery by direct debit or online or £78.80 incl. VAT over the phone.
- The cost for subscription renewal is £57 incl. VAT and delivery by direct debit or online or £65 incl. VAT over the phone.

What can go in the 'Green Waste' bin?
- Green waste, which shall comprise garden waste consisting of leaves, grass cuttings, hedge and tree cuttings and similar materials (excluding kitchen waste and any animal derived matter).
- Any woody material exceeding 100mm / 4" will not be accepted by the scheme. Inert waste will not be accepted. (e.g. plastic bags and stones)
What else do I need to know about the Green Waste Club?
- All bins to be presented on collection day by 7.00am.
- Bins should be presented at the edge of your property next to the road and be visible from the road for vehicles travelling in both directions (this will allow our driver to spot the bin).
- Bins should not be overfilled i.e. the lids should be able to close.
- The bin remains the responsibility of the subscriber during the hire period.
- The hire period is 1st March to 28th February; members joining after 1st March will only enjoy the service until 28th February from the date the bin is delivered.
- Any Brown Bins presented for collection that are contaminated with non target waste will be collected by the refuse crews the following week and a charge will be made to the hirer of £35.00 + VAT to cover the additional cost of collection and disposal to landfill.
What happens to the Garden Waste?
Garden waste collected from the Green Waste Club service is taken to a local composting facility where it is processed using large scale composting methods.
Finished compost produced at the facility is used in the 'Earth Cycle' compost range, which is certified by the Composting Association and approved by Organic Farmers and Growers. The Earth Cycle range is available to buy from the following local nurseries:
- Covers - Chichester and Bognor Regis
- Aldingbourne Nurseries
- Shopwhyke nurseries, near Oving
- Tawney Nurseries, Birdham
- Basket World, Maudlin, Chichester and Woodgate, Eastergate
The Earth Cycle range includes the following products
- Compost mulch
- Multipurpose compost
- Organic cow compost
- Root zone
- Topsoil
