Food Safety Home Page

Environmental Health’s Food Safety team are primarily involved with the enforcement of EC Regulations concerning Food Hygiene, The Food Safety Act 1990 and the food safety regulations made under it. The Council has a statutory obligation in securing public health by ensuring standards of food safety and hygiene are maintained, in approximately 1100 food premises ranging from sweet shops to large catering operations and manufacturers, throughout the Arun District. This work includes inspecting food businesses, approval of certain  premises, investigating complaints about foodstuffs, investigating causes of food poisoning and providing advice to businesses.

Please note that we are only able to deal with issues within the Arun District area.  If you have a complaint about a business outside of the Arun District, then you will need to contact the local authority where the business is located.
