Housing Strategy
On Wednesday 8th December 2010 the Full Council approved the Council’s new housing strategy for 2010 – 2015 Raise the Roof.
Raise the Roof sets out the way in which the Council and its partners will work towards creating a balanced housing market for the District. Raise the Roof will be delivered during a challenging economic climate where we and are partners will need to work with little or no public subsidy. The accompanying action plan, which includes the various actions to deliver the strategy over the next 5 years, will therefore reflect the realities of the national and local economic climate in which we will be operating.
The purpose of our housing strategy is to create a clear vision for the kind of housing that is appropriate for Arun and how it might be delivered. This is an important component of Arun’s Sustainable Community Strategy ‘Our Kind of Place’. Raise the Roof will be an umbrella for our more specific plans to tackle homelessness and to enforce standards in the private rented sector, and will link to a range of other strategies, such as community safety, empty homes and economic development.
