Bands

All domestic properties appear in the valuation list with details of the band in which they have been placed. You can find out the band of any property in the country by visiting the Valuation Office Agency website.

Generally changes in property prices will not result in the property changing bands. However, the property could move to a different band if there is a major change that affects the value. For example

• part of the property is demolished
• a motorway is built nearby which reduces the property value
• an extension is built which increases the property value

It is the listing officer who is responsible for making alterations to the list and for telling the council about any changes.

If you believe your property is in the wrong band, do not contact Arun District Council - please contact the valuation office. It is important that you carry on paying your council tax whilst your appeal is being heard.
