Selling to Arun - Green/Local Purchasing
Arun District Council is committed to making the Arun district a better place in which to live, work, invest or visit.
To achieve that aim the Council has adopted an Environmental Purchasing Policy. In general terms a preference will be given in the award of contracts to 'greener suppliers' and 'green products'.
The Council also evaluates the whole life cost of a purchase, giving regard for example, to operating costs, repairs and maintenance costs, anticipated lifespan and ultimate disposal costs as well as the initial purchase price. Such considerations often favour the 'green' alternative.
Further information on Arun District Council environmental and sustainable development issues can be found from the Environmental Health homepage.
The Council is also keen to promote local businesses and employment opportunities. However, we are prohibited from giving unfair preference to local suppliers, but we will attempt to ensure through local advertising that potential local suppliers are aware of the Council's business and service requirements so that they can compete fairly and on equal terms for any contract opportunities.
In addition to this online 'Selling to Arun Guide' the seven District and Borough Councils in West Sussex, along with the County Council, have jointly produced a booklet that provides more information on how do business with the West Sussex Councils. Please contact any of the Sussex Councils if you require a hard copy or e-mail procurement@arun.gov.uk.
Further information and advice for businesses can be found on the Business website.
