Health and Safety Enforcing Authorities
HEALTH
Health and safety enforcement is divided between the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and Local Authorities (LAs).
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) ensure compliance with legislation in the following types of premises
- Factories
- Building sites
- Mines and quarries
- Farms
- Fairgrounds
- Railways
- Chemical plant
- Offshore and nuclear installations
Local Authority ensure compliance with legislation in the following types of premises
- Shops
- Warehouses
- Offices
- Hotels and catering
- Sports and leisure
- Consumer services (eg. launderettes, hairdressers, undertakers, shoe repair, tyre and exhaust fitters, residential care homes and churches.

Arun District Councils Health and Safety Team Consists of
1 Principal Environmental Health Officer (PEHO)
1 Senior Health and Safety Officer
The team are also responsible for licensing of caravan sites
