Arun

Planning for Businesses

arundel2The Planning Services Department at Arun deals with all changes of use to buildings, extensions and new buildings in the District.  It also includes the Building Control service which deals with design details and inspections.   If you want to convert your home to run a business there, extend or alter your business premises or change it's use, or put up signs and business name boards, you will probably need planning and / or building control permission.

Planning is a complex process which is geared towards making an application for planning permission rather than discussing the options open to you.  As part of our commitment to supporting business growth in the district, Arun provide a business-planning liaison service to enable different options to be considered informally by Planning without incurring the time and expense of submitting a planning application.

So if you are thinking of starting a business at home, extending your premises or locating or re-locating in Arun, in the first instance contact Planning on 01903 737756 for advice and guidance.

When you are ready to apply for planning permission, go to the Planning website where you can get advise and information, make an application and track it's progress.

Technical Problems

Please note if you try to view a letter of representation/document  and it is not possible to view it although there is an entry, please wait 24 hours as there is a time delay between scanning the document and blocking the signatures on the document. It will not be possible to view it until it has been blocked.

Some users are also experiencing problems when accessing planning documents. It is to do with the version of Adobe that you are using. Adobe has recently upgraded its product to Reader version X10.1.2 and has caused the problem.

Adobe have issued a patch. We have loaded it on an external home pc and it has fixed the problem. Go to http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/pdf-opens-grey-screen-browser.html and follow the instructions.
