Pollution

Pollution incidents such as oil spills, unregulated factory discharges or the accidental release of raw sewage can damage the environment, harm wildlife and pose a threat to human health.

If you are concerned that a watercourse is polluted, you should report it to the Environment Agency straight away, using their Freephone 24-hour incident hotline number 0800 807 060. The Environment Agency will investigate the pollution incident as soon as possible and do what they can to limit harm, damage and threat to people and the environment.

You should also report the pollution incident to Environmental Health at Arun District Council, who can investigate any threats to human health.
