Cllr Cooper bids a fond farewell

Chairman of Arun District Council, Cllr Andy Cooper welcomed guests to the Civic Centre in Littlehampton on Monday 23 May to host his final reception as Chairman of the District.

During the reception Cllr Cooper reflected on some of the wonderful experiences they have enjoyed during this time.

“This year has been fantastic and being Chairman of Arun District Council is an honour I have thoroughly enjoyed.

“Alison and I have been incredibly fortunate to have been invited to, and attended so many varied events over the year and we have met many inspirational and talented people who are dedicated to serving their local community, especially those involved in charities, who have displayed generosity and hard work in support of their varying causes. Representing Arun District Council as Chairman and ambassador at so many different events has been humbling.

“We have also enjoyed hosting our own events and presiding at official engagements over the last 12 months and these have brought us both immense pleasure and pride in representing this Council.

Guests at the reception included Councillors, Honorary Aldermen, and Chief Executive Nigel Lynn, council officers, guests from Enable Me and their supporters.

At the start of his Civic year, Cllr Cooper proudly announced that he would be working hard to raise money for Littlehampton based Disability Awareness Charity Enable Me and was delighted to present a cheque totalling £4636 to Enable Me Executive Chairman, Chris Jay.

Mr Jay said “It has been a real honour to work with Cllr Cooper and the team to not only raise vital funds for Enable Me but also to raise awareness of the workshops we offer for both children and adults, both in the local community and further afield.”

The new Chairman of Arun District Council will be appointed on 26 May 2016 at the Annual Council meeting.
