Littlehampton business owners, employees and members of the community joined together at Arun District Council Civic Centre on Wednesday 20 January to learn vital life-saving first aid skills.

Local Branch Responders trained those in attendance to perform CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), and how to use a defibrillator.  The Littlehampton Traders Partnership promoted the event, following their recent installation of a defibrillator in the High Street, Littlehampton.

Vice Chairman of Arun District Council, Cllr Stephen Haymes attended one of the two sessions and took part in the training, He said “This is such an important skill for us all to learn or to brush up on the knowledge we may already have. None of us know when we might need to call on what we have learned so I feel it is important to ensure we are up to date with the latest training.”

The event was organised by John Edjvet, Littlehampton Town Centre Regeneration Officer, Arun District Council. John said “It was really impressive how people really responded to the training. The feedback I have had has been really positive. A big thanks to the Branch Responders who are so committed to providing the service.  Due to popular demand, we will likely put on a further training session later in the year.”
