Cook with confidence thanks to Cook and Eat

Do you need to brush up on your cooking skills? If so, Arun Wellbeing’s Cook and Eat course is for you.

Cook and Eat supports people with low confidence to cook from scratch, using inexpensive ingredients to create meals and snacks which are appetising, affordable and healthy.

All six sessions include opportunities for food tasting and are suitable for all – children aged under-16 are welcome if they are accompanied by an adult and those aged between 16 and 17 will need permission from a parent or guardian.

The two hour classes include sessions on basic nutrition, food labelling, budgeting, tips on shopping, practical cooking-knife skills, cooking methods and food hygiene.

Beetroot muffins and Spaghetti Bolognese with vegetables instead of meat are just two of the meals participants could make.

Councillor Paul Wotherspoon, Arun District Council Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: “Having the skills and the confidence to cook a delicious healthy meal can not only be enjoyable but good for your body too.

“This course could help improve your culinary skills, give you healthy eating tips and useful hints on shopping.”

The courses will be led by Jocelyn Dodgson from Food Matters, a not-for-profit national food policy and advocacy organisation.

The sessions take place every Thursday from July 21 to August 25. In Bognor Regis the courses start at 3.30pm and finish at 5.30pm and will be held at the Bersted Park Community Centre in Lakeland Avenue, Bognor Regis.

In Littlehampton the courses start at 11.30am and finish at 1.30pm and will be held at the United Church, High Street, Littlehampton.
