Dan hopes to put Local Land Charges on the map again

Local Land Charges land national recognition for customer service

An Arun District Council Local Land Charges Officer has made the shortlist of Land Charges Officer of the Year.

Dan Carman is vying against two other local land charges officers. He will find out whether he is successful when the winners are revealed at the National Land Charges Awards for Excellence 2017 in March in Bristol.

He said: “I was quite shocked to be nominated. It is definitely the highest recognition I have received in my career so far.

“What is particularly pleasing is that the support my colleagues and peers have shown me in putting me forward for this award.”

Councillor Ricky Bower, Arun District Council’s Cabinet Member for Planning and Infrastructure, said: “It is very pleasing news that the Council’s Local Land Charges team is once again receiving recognition through Dan being shortlisted in this category.

“This is a testament of the high levels of professionalism and excellent customer service shown by such dedicated officers working for the Council. I very much hope he is successful.”

Arun District Council’s Local Land Charges service was highly commended in the Best Customer Experience Award at the National Land Charges Awards for Excellence 2016.

Kate Pullen, who works for Henchleys Solicitors, said: “I have worked over the years with many different Local Land Charges departments in Sussex and I honestly have never come across such a swift and efficient team as that at Arun.

“Many solicitors are astonished when I inform them how fast the local searches are issued. When I am trying to locate an errant planning document or notice or I am uncertain whom I should contact, Dan Carman is always my first port of call.

“’Contact Dan’ is a phrase regularly used in this office. A prompt response is always received and documents are dispatched within a very short time and have even in the past been hand delivered. Nothing appears to be too much trouble.”
