Littlehampton beach scoops Seaside Award again!

Littlehampton’s Coastguards [East] beach has retained an award which recognises its first-class standards.

Today’s announcement of the prestigious Seaside Awards has been welcomed by Arun District Council which is responsible for the day-to-day running of the beach.

Handed out by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, the Seaside Award Flag is a sign that the facilities and cleanliness of the beaches are of the highest standard. It will fly over both Littlehampton’s Coastguards [East] Beach and the East Beach in Bognor Regis again this season.

Councillor Andy Cooper, Chairman of Arun District Council, joined other dignitaries on the beach, including Councillor James Walsh, council member for Beach ward, to raise the flag.

They were joined by members of the Council’s Foreshores Team.

The Chairman praised the hard work of everyone involved in maintaining both beaches to such a high standard.

He said: “I am delighted that the Seaside Flag will be proudly flying above the beach at Littlehampton again this season. A lot of hard work goes into keeping the beach pleasant for residents and visitors alike and I’d like to personally thank the Council’s foreshores team for everything they do, as well as the local people who take pride in their beach. A tidy beach is a big draw for tourism and helps our local economy.”
