Planning applications still being processed

Planning applications Arun District Council would like to reassure residents that planning applications are still being processed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

When required, planning applications will continue to be presented to Development Control Committee as is normal procedure and we are awaiting legislation on how this meeting can be held remotely.

Once we have news on this, the Council will agree details including the composition of the committee, how agendas/presentations will be made, and how the public may be involved, if this is possible. We are still scheduled to hold the next committee meeting on 27 May 2020.

We are aware that a number of town and parish councils are not meeting at this time and may therefore not be commenting upon applications. Where a town or parish council is unable to comment, no decision on certain applications will be made until consultation has been carried out with the Chairman of Arun District Council’s Development Control Committee.

Councillor Martin Lury, Arun District Council’s Cabinet Member for Planning, said: “We would like to thank residents for sharing their concerns with us, but we can reassure you that we are still following the normal procedure for planning applications. There are no applications being determined that do not accord with the current scheme of delegation.

“When we have more information about how the next scheduled Development Control Committee will be held, we will share this with you. In the meantime, please visit our website for all the latest information.”
