Housing allocation policy consultation

Have your say on how our social and affordable rented housing is allocated to residents.

We have our own housing stock and there are also a significant number of homes in the district that are owned by Registered Providers (Housing Associations).

We have to coordinate the allocation of social housing and with over 1,000 applicants currently registered for re-housing, we must set a framework that can meet the needs of residents who are in urgent need and require affordable accommodation.

In Arun, social rented housing is currently allocated through the ihousing portal. Applicants are categorised into bands based on their needs criteria – for example, those at risk of homelessness are given higher priority than applicants seeking to move for social reasons.

Once applicants have been accepted onto the register, they are able to use ihousing to “bid” on properties – based on their needs and areas of preference.

We are asking for people to comment on suggested changes for how social housing is allocated to people via a questionnaire.

You can complete the consultation survey online.

If you would prefer to make written comments about the Housing Allocations Policy, you can email these to allocations.consultation@arun.gov.uk.

The survey closes on Friday 1 October 2021.
