Land West of Bersted

Applications will be submitted for development within the West of Bersted strategic site allocation, as identified in the Arun District Local Plan 2011-2031. 

A strategic site is land identified within Arun to accommodate major developments for housing within this time period.

The West of Bersted site is located to the north west of Bognor Regis and will provide at least 2,500 dwellings. Financial contributions secured for when development commences, will include primary school and nursery expansion, new sports pitches with facilities, a community hub with shops, new healthcare facilities to serve both this site and the Pagham strategic sites and a new Tier 7 style library.

A road/pedestrian/cycle link between the A259 and Chalcraft lane will be provided, facilitating the cycle route to Pagham and enhancing the A259 cycle route. Improvements will be made to the A259 between Bersted and Drayton. Where possible, linkages and accessible pedestrian & cycle routes to Bognor Regis town centre will be provided. The development will incorporate planned new employment provision.

Developers will ensure there is no detrimental impact to Pagham Harbour and a comprehensive strategy for surface water management will be developed in line with the specific recommendations for this locality in the Arun Strategic Surface Water Management Study.

Outline planning permission has been approved for development to Land West of New Barn Lane, Bersted. It is split into two areas we are referring to as north and south.

You can view the full details of the decisions approved on the north section under references BE/142/15/OUT with amendments under BE/18/17/PL and BE/40/18/PL with detailed plans under the Reserved Matters reference BE/113/17/RES. Development has commenced and is progressing. The first few houses are about to be occupied.
