Council deplores act of 'mindless' vandalism

Vandals have destroyed three trees in Brookfield Park in Littlehampton by snapping them in half.

The horse chestnut trees were planted by Arun District Council along with an ornamental grass border as part of a larger landscaping scheme in September 2013 at a total cost of £1,185.

The incident was reported to the Council on Tuesday, 5 May.

Paula Elliott, Community Parks Officer at Arun District Council, said: "I am really disappointed mindless vandals have damaged these trees for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

"A huge amount of hard work is undertaken every year by Council staff and our contractors to make Brookfield Park an enjoyable place to visit."

Sussex Police are investigating. If you have any information which can be of assistance please quote crime reference number 0774 and call the non-emergency crime number 101.
