Discussion held about West bank, Littlehampton

map At a planned meeting of the cabinet on 9 December, Arun District Councillors considered authorising the sale of its freehold interest in land on the west bank of the River Arun, including Littlehampton Marina. The land is part of a wider area designated in the Local Plan as a strategic development site within the Littlehampton Economic Growth Area.

The Local Plan includes a residential-led, mixed-use strategic development on the west bank of the River Arun. The policy sets out that the development would need to provide a range of infrastructure and community benefits including a primary school and flood defences to benefit existing properties.

The major landowners, of which the Council is one, are working together to explore how the development can be progressed.

The cabinet voted in favour of the recommendation which means that authority has been granted to sell this land and pave the way for discussions and investigations to continue with regards to the delivery of this development.
