Election information you need to know

Ballot box Confirmation of the UK Parliamentary General Election on 12 December 2019 means that Arun District Council is well underway with preparations to deliver another successful election.

Poll cards will be issued by post during the week of 11 November, and you must check that you know where your polling station is. Most stations remain the same as usual but due to the short notice, a few of our usual polling stations have not been able to accommodate us so alternative venues have been found.  Please check your poll cards. If you receive a poll card for this election, this acts as confirmation that you are already registered,

If you are already registered to vote you do not need to register again. However, if you haven’t registered yet, it is important that you do so now, but only do it once. Duplicate registrations take up a lot of administrative time for council officers and it is vital that at this time we ensure that processes are smooth and accurate so your assistance with this is welcomed.

If you aren’t already registered, your application to register to vote in these elections must be received by Arun District Council’s Acting Returning Officer, Nigel Lynn by 26 November. Details of how to do this can be found on the Arun District Council Website https://www.arun.gov.uk/registration.

The deadline to apply for a new postal vote or to change or cancel an existing postal vote is 5pm on 26 November. Requests for new proxy votes must be received by Arun District Council by 5pm on 4 December.

If you wish to stand for election in the UK Parliamentary election in the Bognor Regis and Littlehampton Constituency, nomination papers must be received by the Acting Returning Officer at the Civic Centre in Littlehampton by 4pm on 14 November. We will publish the Statement of Persons Nominated no later than 5pm the same day.
