Mrs Hazel Latus, right, after receiving her BEM Friends and family and local dignitaries gathered together on a beautiful autumn afternoon to witness the presentation of the British Empire Medal (BEM) to the Chairman of Arun Arts, Mrs Hazel Latus. The award is in acknowledgement of her voluntary service to the Arts in Bognor Regis and her dedication and commitment to the local community.

Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant Susan Pyper and the Deputy Lieutenant Philip Jackson honoured Mrs Latus with the award in front of the invited guests, during the ceremony at Arundel Town Hall on Tuesday 9 October 2018.

Speaking after the ceremony, Hazel said “I can’t tell you what an honour it is to not only receive the BEM but also to be able to enjoy such a special occasion. The work behind Arun Arts and the many projects connected to it really is a team effort and I would like to thank all those involved for their commitment and never-ending enthusiasm. I am very much looking forward to all the exciting things that are to come for the theatre and hope many more people will be able to enjoy and experience the arts in Bognor Regis and the Arun District.”
