Honours ceremony for Bognor Regis Arts advocate

Hazel The Lord-Lieutenant Susan Pyper and the Deputy Lieutenant Philip Jackson will be honouring the Chairman of Arun Arts, Mrs Hazel Latus, with the British Empire Medal (BEM) in a ceremony on Tuesday 9 October 2018.

The ceremony, for invited guests, will take place at Arundel Town Hall where Hazel will receive the award in acknowledgement of her voluntary service to the Arts in Bognor Regis and her dedication and commitment to the local community.

During her time as a volunteer, and now as Chairman, Hazel has demonstrated grit and determination to ensure that the Alexandra Theatre runs successfully and the many projects that are associated with the Theatre and the Arts can continue to benefit the community.

Hazel has been responsible for bringing new productions and events to the theatre and as part of her work has introduced family fun weeks for all families, rich or poor, and sponsors seats for families that are unable to afford tickets for children's shows.

Leader of Arun District Council, Councillor Mrs Gillian Brown OBE, said “It will be a privilege to witness Hazel receiving this award for her hard work and dedication to the Arts in Bognor Regis and beyond. It is worthy recognition for her commitment to the Theatre and so many community groups.”
