We are seeing a steady decline in the number of new cases both nationally and across the county, but we are still seeing new cases. In smaller populations, a small number of extra cases can lead to dramatic changes in rates that cause concern. Variations in rates are expected while we move through the next stage of the pandemic. Measures are in place to respond to incidents as they happen. Everyone should continue to follow the sensible measures in place help prevent the spread of Covid-19, such as hand washing, physically distancing, wearing face coverings and vaccination.

West Sussex County Council’s Public Health team is working closely with Public Health England, the NHS and Environmental Health colleagues in District and Borough Councils across the county to provide support to their local communities to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and save lives. This includes reviewing COVID-19 data on a daily basis, providing infection prevention and control advice, and implementing further prevention measures where required.

It is important that we all keep doing our part to prevent the spread of this virus. Even if you have had your vaccine.

Anyone with symptoms should self-isolate immediately and book a free test at www.nhs.uk/coronavirus or by calling 119.
