Arun District Council offer paperless billing option – go greener, go paperless

Go Greener Go Paperless One lucky resident in Arun could win their Council Tax paid for a year, thanks to a prize draw being run by Arun District Council.

Arun launched their new online Paperless Billing system this week, and the prize is being offered to encourage residents to sign up. The new service will mean residents will be able to manage their Council Tax accounts and receive their bills online. To enter the draw, residents simply need to register for an online account and sign up for paperless billing. The winner will be drawn on 1 June 2020 and will receive a credit on their 2020/21 Council Tax account up to the value of a Band D charge.

Arun has made the move to a paperless billing system to streamline the management of council tax and to support the council’s green agenda. The new system will significantly reduce the environmental impact of the billing process by reducing paper use and lowering carbon emissions. Arun aims to be carbon neutral by 2030.

The move to paperless bills is a choice and standard paper bills for those who don’t sign up will continue for the time being.

Arun are working hard to reduce the amount of paper used and when signing up for online billing residents will also be given the opportunity to provide their email address to enable them to receive news updates from the council electronically in the future. This will be governed by strict data protection protocols to ensure the use of data is appropriate and relevant.
