Settlement Sustainability Study 2007
The Council carried out a Settlement Sustainability Study to asses the current sustainability of the district’s settlements and to help inform decisions on their role in accommodating future growth. The study looked at the demographic characteristics, the accessibility to key facilities and services, the employment and commuting patterns and the accessibility to public transport for each settlement.

Below are a list of community profiles, which were published as a joint project by Action in Rural England (ACRE) in 2013. The community profiles are structured around eight issues that have been identified as important for a sustainable community, these are: social & cultural, equity, economy, housing & the built environment, transport & connectivity, services, environmental, and governance.
