A Return to Retail
With more shops opening over the coming days and weeks, Arun District Council is working hard to ensure that both shoppers and shop staff stay safe.
Along with local traders and Arun’s town and parish councils, we are welcoming people back into our town and village shopping areas in a safe and measured way.
We want the public to feel as safe as possible and retailers will be ensuring that measures are in place to enable the public to follow social distancing guidance, while they shop.
A slow and steady return to business for our shops is key as we keep safety our priority and this will enable retailers to make any necessary adjustments along the way.
If the queue outside a shop is too long to observe socially distancing, we encourage people to make a judgement call and return later.
We know that shop owners are working hard to ensure they are ready to welcome their customers back and we hope to see kindness and tolerance in abundance as we all get used to this new way of living.
Shopping local and supporting small businesses is key to getting the District back in business and we hope to see customers doing just that.
Information for Retailers
We appreciate how much hard work is involved to ensure your business is “Covid-19 Secure” for your staff and customers.
Is your business Covid-19 Secure?
There is clear Government guidance for shops and branches and details of your responsibilities as retailers.
Please check you comply with the requirements before opening your premises to the public and your staff.
Once you have implemented the Government’s recommended measures, you are entitled to display a “COVID-19 Secure” poster in your shop window.
This will reassure your customers and show them how seriously you take their safety and your responsibilities as a retailer.
