Tourism Business Support

Tourism is vital to our area and so many businesses rely on the thousands of visitors who visit the district every year. We aim to work closely with all tourism businesses and organisations in the Arun district, whether they are accommodation providers, attractions, event organisers, retailers, food outlets or their local suppliers. The aim of this is to ensure they are able to offer the best service in this highly competitive market.

We can help through promotion, business advice, networking opportunities, skills training advice and more.

If you have a tourism business in the Arun district and need help and advice on a whole range of subjects, please email

Welcome host training

Working with Tourism Southeast, the regional tourist board, we can signpost a range of training opportunities for your business. Courses and workshops focus on customer service, accessible businesses, overseas visitors and more. These courses can lead to City & Guilds qualification for you or your staff. If you are interested in discussing this further please email

Business promotions and media

Make the best of social media and other marketing opportunities for your business, including Sussex By The Sea the official tourism site for the Arun District. One to one visits can be arranged to advise and guide you through this increasingly necessary communication technology, and how to make it work for you.

Visitor information points

To enhance the huge range of online information available, Arun District Council works with several local partners to deliver up to date visitor information in a range of different ways. Arundel Museum, The Bognor Regis Observer, and Littlehampton’s Look & Sea Visitor Centre host Visitor Information Points (VIPs) alongside their business operations, with a range of print leaflets for you to select when in the towns. We are also working with other locations such as foreshore & rail stations, theatres, retailers and cafes throughout the district to increase local visitor information availability. If you are interested in holding local information for your customers please email

Quality accommodation schemes

All visitor accommodation businesses promoted and supported by Arun District Council and Sussex by the Sea participate in one or more of the following schemes. The National Quality Assurance Schemes operated by Visit England, the AA, or are self-assessed as part of a large tourism organisation. Many visitor attractions are also part of the quality attraction schemes.

Green tourism

Being green makes good business sense and helps make Arun businesses sustainable. Visit England has lots of information on sustainable tourism.

Blue flag awards

We are very proud of the beautiful beaches we have along the 14 mile coastline of the Arun District. Many departments at the council work hard all year round to ensure that we can qualify for the Blue Flag Award or the Keep Britain Tidy Seaside Award each year.
