Did you know? How we keep the district clean

Text states Did you know? how we keep the district clean. Images of bagged up rubbish in blue sacks and work mean in orange high-vis collecting litter.

We are serious about keeping our district clean, tidy, and green.

The picture shows the team out and about clearing litter and fly tipping on parts of the A259 and A27.

There are sections of these highways that require traffic management, and we often work alongside other agencies doing work to keep road closures to a minimum.

Last week, Biffa (the council's contractors) were working in conjunction with highway’s contractors to undertake litter picking, street sweeping and removing fly tipping on the closed section of the A259 in Rustington.

Here’s a few facts about litter:

  • it's illegal
  • it's anti-social
  • it harms wildlife
  • it affects farming
  •      it kills marine life (as litter often end ups in the sea)
  •      it's a fire hazard

And it costs money to clear up!
