Dome set to make way for new Littlehampton Leisure Centre

dome The Sports Dome is being demolished to make way for the new multi-million pound Littlehampton Leisure Centre.

The temporary structure, which has stood for over 28 years and was used as a multi-purpose activity space, will be replaced by an integral four court sports hall within the new centre.

The Sea Road site is being prepared for the construction of the new centre which will also include an eight-lane, 25 metre swimming pool, a large training pool, 80 – 85 station gym, dance and cycling studios and a café.

Hoarding has been erected at the site and the ground is being prepared for the foundations of the new building. The demolition of the Dome begins this week and is expected to take around five weeks to complete.

Contractors, John Peck Construction, are part of the Considerate Constructors Scheme and will be working hard to ensure that disruption is kept to a minimum.

It is possible that dates may change due to the nature of the work and any variations to the schedule can be found on social media and by visiting the New Leisure Centre web page.

The new centre is expected to be open to the public by April 2019 when the current sports centre will then be taken down. This will allow customers to continue to have access to leisure facilities at the site throughout the construction phase.
