Al fresco fitness comes to Rustington

People wishing to improve their fitness can work out outdoors thanks to gym equipment now installed in a Rustington park courtesy of the team at Arun Wellbeing.

The eye catching apparatus ranges from a sit up bench, chin up bars, leg press, hand pedal-cycle combo to a step twister combo with exercise variations on most stations.

A launch was held on Thursday, 26 November, where people tested the new circuit style outdoor gym gear in the Ascot Way Play Area for the first time.

A qualified trainer was on hand to give advice to those who attended on how to use the equipment and how to get the most out of their workout.

Councillor Paul Wotherspoon, Arun District Council Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: “Everyone will benefit from using this fantastic new gym equipment as it can be used by young and older people alike.

“There are many health benefits of getting plenty of fresh air and exercise so I hope it will prove popular among those living in Rustington and throughout the Arun district.”

The equipment was officially tested and presented to the community by Councillor Alison Bryden Cooper, Chairman of Rustington Parish Council.

She said: “The new gym equipment is a fantastic positive initiative for the health and wellbeing for Rustington residents.

“I personally would like to thank the Think Family Initiative who have worked hard to improve the area and the Arun Wellbeing team who have provided the funding, and without whom this would not have been possible”.
