Alexandra Arts Centre construction and activities updates
As autumn gets underway, construction at the Alexandra Arts Centre is continuing at pace, with teams working across virtually every part of the building as the project enters one of its most rewarding phases.
With the finishing details now beginning to arrive alongside the completion of major structural and services works, the building is starting to feel less like a construction site and more like the arts centre it is becoming.
External work
The building's external appearance is set to transform, with decorative façade banding and window surrounds being installed to create the Alexandra Arts Centre's distinctive identity, while external brickwork continues towards completion.
Final exterior works will also be completed, including the remaining roof trims and finishing details, alongside the completion of the scaffolding programme to enable final finishing works across all elevations.
Internal work
With the acoustic panels on their way, the decorative exterior details about to be installed, and internal scaffolding beginning to come down, the Alexandra Arts Centre is entering its final stretch. The team remains on track, and we look forward to sharing further updates as the building continues its journey toward its Spring 2027 opening.
Looking ahead
The coming two weeks will see a number of exciting finishing elements arrive on site as the building moves ever closer to its completed form.
Theatre activities update
While the momentum towards completion is building, the programme is really beginning to take shape. A growing number of events are confirmed, and announcements of what's coming this autumn, will give audiences a first glimpse of the fantastic range of theatre, music, comedy, family events and community activity planned.
Charlotte Cassey has joined as the new Venue Director, and the Centre continues to recruit key roles for those who will help to build the structure necessary to operate this busy arts and community venue.
Sponsor a seat has raised over £8000 already by more than 100 supports, local businesses and members of the community. The funds are needed for technical equipment and furniture as well as the building's day to day operations. They are still looking for sponsors.
