Key achievements to date:

  • piling work underway: following completion of the piling mat and haul road, piling activities have now commenced on site, representing a key milestone in the delivery of the building's foundations
  • enabling work completed: major preparatory tasks, including asbestos removal, service isolations, demolition of existing structures, and temporary work, have been successfully completed, laying the groundwork for the main work
  • health and safety excellence: the site continues to operate with zero incidents or RIDDORs (reporting of injuries, diseases and dangerous occurrences regulations) to date, with rigorous site safety protocols and environmental controls in place

What's next:

  • scaffolding installation: the erection of scaffold structures has now begun, supporting further structural, roof and façade work
  • groundwork progression: following initial substructure work, groundwork will continue over the coming days to support vertical build activities
  • procurement advancing: procurement of specialist packages is progressing, ensuring continuity as the project advances into critical construction phases

Commercial progress: procurement and commercial elements are advancing in line with project expectations. The most recent valuation has been submitted and certified, reflecting strong financial control and progress to date.

Stakeholder engagement: stakeholder liaison remains a priority, with no issues reported to date. Neilcott continues to work closely with the council, centre management, and other partners to minimise disruption and keep the public informed.

Jonathan Hawkins, Project Manager, Neilcott Construction said: "We are pleased with the progress made to date and proud to confirm that the project is on track. With the main construction phase now underway, we look forward to seeing this important redevelopment take shape over the coming weeks."
