Alexandra Theatre progress update for March and April

Construction scaffolding and insulation installation at Alexandra Theatre in Bognor Regis under clear blue sky. Project Update on Alexandra Theatre, Bognor Regis Construction at the Alexandra Theatre in Bognor Regis has seen further progress made across roofing, structural steelwork and internal layout work.

Progress over the last few weeks (9 March - 20 March 2026) included: 

  • constructed a new roof structure to fly tower
  • completion of structural steelwork in the auditorium, including installing a new lighting bridge
  • continuation of flat roofing works installing the tapered new build extension and fly tower roof
  • progression of the built-up system on the fly tower
  • delivery of new roof sheet material
  • completion of partitions on the first floor with walls boarded one side
  • flooring screed preparation, which involves the cleaning and priming of a surface before a final base layer is put down
  • new boarding of 50% of the partitions on the ground floor
  • new flooring installed in the crew room of the existing theatre
  • installed steels to create control room screen

Over the next fortnight, works will focus on advancing roofing installations including the fly tower, completing and preparing internal floors, progressing ground floor partitions, and commencing underfloor heating installation.

Imminent work (23 March - early April) includes: 

  • continuation of flat roofing works including tapering to the new build extension (upper roofs)
  • progression of the built-up system and commencement of installing the roof sheets to fly tower
  • installation of floor screed on the first floor of the theatre
  • completion of the partitions on ground floor
  • further screed preparation works for the ground floor
  • commencement of underfloor heating pipework
