Alexandra Theatre hits key milestone
Construction work at the Alexandra Theatre continues to progress, with a major structural milestone now achieved and the site preparing for its next stages.
The reinforced concrete (RC) frame that forms the structural foundation for the building's extension, has been completed.
This marks a turning point in the redevelopment programme, enabling the project team to begin the transition from major external works to internal fit-out and external finishing.
Recent progress highlights:
- RC frame completed: all concrete reinforced frame works have now been completed, forming the core structure for the theatre's new extension
- site clear-up underway: the contractors have begun removing temporary supports (props) and shuttering from around the structure
- mobile crane de-rigged: the large mobile crane used for the RC frame installation has now been removed from site
- concrete staircases in progress: construction of new internal concrete staircases is underway
- ground preparation started: work has begun to prepare the external areas around the new extension, forming the basis for future landscaping and hard surfacing
- internal works progressing as early internal works have commenced to enable follow-on trades and preparatory building services
Continued focus on programme delivery:
The project remains under active management by Neilcott Construction Ltd and continues to progress in line with the agreed construction programme. Health and safety standards on site remain high, and the team are now focused on the transition to the next phases of the build.
Further updates will be shared in line with the planned schedule.
