Angmering Sports Hub gets planning approval
Planning approval for a new sports and community hub, at Palmer Road Recreation Ground, Angmering, has been granted with conditions. Further information will need to be submitted prior to work beginning, including details on lighting, drainage and biodiversity.
The layout of the new facility incorporates a community building with changing rooms, an artificial turf pitch, grass football pitches and an artificial cricket wicket. It is hoped that construction will start in late 2026, following a tender process for a design and build contractor who will first produce detail designs. A bid for Football Foundation funding has been submitted, which, if successful, is anticipated to be confirmed at the end of March.
The construction of the new sports hub is subject to funding confirmation, with £3million of Section 106 funding allocated to the scheme, with total costs estimated at £10million.
Chair of the Policy and Resources Committee, Councillor Martin Lury said: “It's fantastic to see the Angmering Sports Hub take a major step forward with the approval of planning permission. This project represents a significant investment in high quality sports and community facilities for Angmering and the wider district.
While the final delivery of the Hub is dependent on securing the necessary funding, we remain committed to bringing this valuable facility to the community.”
