Are you shreddy? Arundel Skate Park is having a facelift!
Canada Road Skate Park in Arundel is being upgraded with a new modern design using features chosen by residents and local skaters.
The design concept was shaped by public consultation last year and got the thumbs-up when presented to a local focus group of skaters.
Concrete skatepark company, Canvas Spaces Ltd, was chosen to deliver the upgrade with a design that incorporated ramps with street-style furniture.
Their design includes all the items requested by the public and skaters including steps, a variety of ramps, a handrail and a layout that is fully inclusive to sports wheelchair users.
Concrete ramps were chosen above metal or wood because they’re quieter and smoother to ride. And not to leave anyone out, the design caters for skaters of all abilities – you don’t need to be the next Alex Decunha or Sky Brown to use it!
If you just want to watch, the design includes an area for spectators and a fully accessible path leading to the park.

Cllr Staniforth said: “It is so important in a community to have these outdoor spaces for people of all ages to engage. Being in the fresh air and exercising is vital for our health. The fact that we have been able to incorporate all the things you have asked for in the new design shows how great it is for us all to work together to deliver a truly exciting project.
