Arun Business Crime Reduction Partnership: One Year On
The Arun Business Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP) is celebrating one year since its launch in March 2025.
Over the past year, strong collaboration between local businesses, Sussex Police and town centre partners has helped make Bognor Regis and Littlehampton safer and more welcoming.
A major success has been uniting both towns under one reporting system called DISC. Local businesses have played a vital role by consistently reporting incidents, sharing intelligence and completing DISC training, leading to faster and clearer communication.
Throughout the year, our BCRP Manager has offered on-the-ground support, from follow‑up after incidents to tailored training sessions. Close work with Sussex Police and major retailers has helped quickly identify repeat offenders and respond to emerging issues.
Sussex Police has been central to the BCRP's progress, using DISC as an investigative tool, reviewing reports and taking action based on business intelligence. Their visible presence and engagement with retailers has strengthened confidence across the district.
The BCRP continues to work closely with Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) teams, Community Wardens, youth and outreach services, licensing and the Safer Arun Partnership, ensuring business concerns are heard and acted on at a district level.
This year's achievements were made possible through the support of Littlehampton Town Council, Bognor Regis Town Council, Sussex Police, the Safer Arun Partnership and the Bognor Regis BID, whose commitment has helped build safer high streets.
Business reports have directly contributed to arrests and civil orders against persistent offenders, demonstrating the impact of joined-up reporting and policing.
Work with Pubwatch groups has improved safety in the evening economy, while community events such as Emergency Services Days and Safer Business Action Week have boosted public and business confidence.
Councillor Roger Nash, Chair of the Economy Committee at Arun District Council, said:
“Over the past year the BCRP has shown the real value of strong partnership working in supporting our local businesses.
By improving reporting, strengthening links with Sussex Police and bringing our town centres together under one system, the partnership has made a clear and positive difference. I want to thank every business, organisation and partner involved for their commitment. We look forward to building on this progress as the BCRP continues to grow in its second year.”
The BCRP will continue to grow membership, strengthen reporting, support the night‑time economy and increase visibility across the district.
