Arun District Council approves extension to parking time limits
Arun District Council has granted an extension to parking time limits in Bognor Regis and Littlehampton, increasing the maximum stay to three hours. The changes will come into effect 1 January 2027.
This follows feedback from residents, visitors and local businesses who told us that longer stays under the current free parking scheme would better reflect how people use the town centres.
The change, made at last night's Economy Committee, will make it easier for people to spend more time shopping, meeting friends or visiting local services without needing to move their vehicle during their stay.
We have also considered the need to maintain a good turnover of spaces, and the three-hour limit strikes a balance between supporting longer visits and keeping parking available throughout the day.
This disc scheme is available only in some town centre car parks, Manor House St Martins, Anchor Springs in Littlehampton and Fitzleet Multi Storey, Hothamton, Lyon Street in Bognor Regus.
The cost remains unchanged at £6 for a physical disc and £4 for a virtual disc.
Chair of the Economy Committee, Councillor Roger Nash said: “We've listened to feedback from residents, visitors and local businesses, who told us that longer stays under the current free parking scheme would better reflect how people use our town centres.
“When the changes come into force, we'll continue to monitor how they are working to ensure they meet the needs of our communities and support local businesses.”
