Arun Leisure Centre wet changing rooms to be renovated
Work that will transform the Arun Leisure Centre wet changing rooms is due to start early in the new year and be completed by Summer 2023.
The changing rooms date back to when the swimming pool was built in 1994 and are in need of work to modernise them.
Extensive renovations will see the male and female wet changing rooms become a village change area to make the best use of the space. The changing space will comprise of changing cubicles ranging in size for individuals to families. The toilet, shower area and poolside changing rooms will also be updated.
In addition to this, the accessible changing facility will be refurbished and incorporated into the changing rooms so those with additional needs can change safely and in comfort.
Councillor Jacky Pendleton, Chair of the Housing and Wellbeing Committee at Arun District Council said:
“It’s great to see the changing rooms getting a renovation that will bring them in line with the rest of the great facilities at the leisure centre. The village change style changing rooms have proved a success at Littlehampton Wave, allowing families with young children to easily change together as well as being more accessible and will be easier to clean.
The work at Arun Leisure Centre is not solely focused on the changing rooms, as work to make the building more energy efficient is also taking place with solar panels being added to the roof.”
Matt Williams, General Manager at Freedom Leisure said:
“The project to refurbish the swimming pool changing rooms will transform the customer experience and all the team at the centre can’t wait for the works to get underway in the new year.
The environmental works taking place at the same time have also come at the right time, as we battle to overcome huge challenges with our energy cost.”
Whilst the work is taking place the pools will remain open, but space for changing will be reduced and we recommend that you come swim ready to help get you in the pool as quickly as possible.
