Celebrating the improvements made with the government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF)

Four-year UK Shared Prosperity Fund Programme delivers district-wide improvementsBetween 2022 and 2026, the district benefitted from a total investment of £1,437,830, which enabled a wide range of projects to strengthen communities, support local businesses, improve public spaces and enhance town centres.

Delivered by the council, the fund covered a range of partners including town and parish councils, business and regeneration organisations and local groups. The programme has delivered visible, lasting change for residents, businesses and visitors.

Significant investment has been made in parks and play areas, providing modern, inclusive and accessible spaces for children and families to enjoy. Changes include new equipment in Aldwick, Angmering, Arundel, Bognor Regis, Ferring, Littlehampton and Walberton. There have been upgrades to wider green and blue spaces delivered through local partners. These have created safer, more welcoming environments and increased opportunities for outdoor play and exercise.

The fund has delivered significant investment in the town centres of Bognor Regis and Littlehampton, with improvements designed to make both places more welcoming and easier to navigate.

Each town now benefits from a new wayfinding scheme featuring artwork created with the local community, confidently navigating people between high streets, seafronts and key destinations. In Bognor Regis, investment has also supported improvements to the Alexandra Theatre's studio and kitchen facilities ahead of its reopening. In both towns, enhanced lighting, upgraded public realm and shopfront grants have contributed to safer, brighter and more attractive town centres and seafronts.

Across the district, the programme has supported the future resilience of local communities and businesses through green skills training, Net Zero support and employability initiatives. This has supported local employment pathways and helped businesses reduce carbon impacts and prepare for a greener future.

Chair of the Economy Committee, Councillor Roger Nash, “This fouryear programme has delivered meaningful improvements for communities right across Arun. From upgraded parks and new wayfinding systems to cultural investment, business support and green skills training, the benefits of this funding can be seen in every part of the district.”
