Data Privacy Day takes place today and is celebrated to raise awareness to both organisations and individuals, of privacy and data protection, best practice, and why privacy matters to us all.

The theme for Data Privacy Week 2025 is Take Control of Your Data. It focuses on empowering individuals to take charge of their personal information by understanding their data rights and how they can protect their privacy in the digital world.

What is GDPR? It stands for General Data Protection Regulation

The GDPR has a chapter on the rights of data subjects (individuals) which includes the right of access, the right to rectification, the right to erasure, the right to restrict processing, the right to data portability, the right to object and the right not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated decision-making.
