Did you know? About the Arun Counselling Centre
Arun Counselling Centre in Littlehampton has been supporting local people since 1983. It began as the 'Littlehampton and District Counselling Service' and was run entirely by volunteers, offering almost free counselling to the community.
The centre offers confidential advice to individuals by building trusting relationships so they can talk about emotions, reflect on past experiences and consider their hopes for the future. The goal is to discover healthier ways to navigate challenges.
What they can offer employers
Arun Counselling Centre has an employee assistance programme (Empower) to help your teams look after their mental wellbeing with up to six counselling sessions, available in person, online, or by phone. This is to strengthen productivity, increase job satisfaction and foster a happier, healthier workplace.
Based at Dove Lodge on Beach Road, the centre continues its mission to make counselling accessible to everyone, regardless of financial circumstances. This means people who might otherwise be unable to afford therapy are still able to access support.
How they're funded
Arun Counselling Centre is a charity, and their work is made possible through a blend of donations and a flexible fee system. Clients contribute what they can afford for their counselling sessions, and those who are able to pay a little more help to support individuals who may be facing financial hardship. This shared commitment ensures that everyone in our community can access the support they need, regardless of their circumstances.
Offering opportunities for local trainee counsellors
The centre also provides placement opportunities for counselling students from nearby universities and training providers, helping to grow future mental health support for the area. This keeps skills, knowledge and professional development within the community.
Are you a qualified counsellor with experience?
Do you have some time to give? They would love to hear from you. They provide free fortnightly group supervision and cover travel expenses. You'll need to be a member of a recognised professional body and attend two workshops each year.
