Election information you need to know
Confirmation of the West Sussex County council election on 7 May 2026 means that Arun District Council is well underway with preparations.
There are several ways you can vote; in person at a polling station, by post or by appointing someone you trust to vote on your behalf known as a proxy. Full details can be found here: Ways to vote | Arun District Council
If you are already registered to vote you do not need to register again. However, if you haven't registered yet, it is important that you do so now, but only do it once. Duplicate registrations take up a lot of administrative time for us at this busy time so your assistance with this is welcomed.
If you aren't already registered, your application to register to vote in this election must be received by Arun District Council by Monday, 20 April and you can do that here: www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
Key dates
Poll cards will be issued by hand from today up to 12 April, and you should check that you know where your polling station is if you vote in person, as this may have changed since you last voted. If you receive a poll card for this election, this acts as confirmation that you are already registered to vote.
Ballot papers will be posted to those that have a postal vote in place from 22 to 30 April.
The deadline to apply for a new postal vote or to change or cancel an existing postal vote is 5pm on Tuesday 21 April 2026. Requests for new proxy votes must be received by Arun District Council by 5pm on Tuesday, 28 April.
