Findon sports pitch now open thanks to council funds

A sports pitch in Findon which benefitted from a £13,000 grant to provide fencing and surfacing was officially opened by Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner Katy Bourne on Wednesday, 21 October.

Arun District Council provided the funds for the improvements to the pitch at Glebe Land, behind Findon Village Hall. The money was awarded by the Joint Downland Area Committee.

Councillor Dudley Wensley, Deputy Leader of Arun District Council and a Joint Downland Area Committee member, said: “There is substantial evidence about the benefits of young people getting plenty of exercise so I am sure this new pitch will become a popular place for children to enjoy playing their favourite sports.”

The Joint Downland Area Committee is comprised of councillors from Arun District Council, West Sussex County Council, town and parish councils. The committee decides on the amount of grants to give to community causes which help the Downland area.
