Food waste collections update - 3 June 2026

Graphic with a blue gradient background and the text “Weekly food waste collections - already making a difference.” A hand is shown dropping a banana peel into a pile of food scraps, including fruit peels and cores. Arun District Council logo bottom right. Our new weekly food waste service is already making a difference - recycling rates reached 55.55% in April, an 11% increase on the same month last year and a 14% increase on our rate for the whole for the whole of 2025/26.

The service is settling in well for most households. We know there have been some local delays, especially during the recent hot weather, and crews have been working hard to catch up and resolve teething issues - thank you for your patience.

- Food waste collections for flats (phases 1 and 2) are now complete, with phase 3 in the Bognor area underway ahead of schedule

- Unwanted bin collections are continuing across the district and again, we appreciate your patience

- More than 28,500 residents are now using the Arun App for updates - including bin collection notifications
