Goodbye to our beach patrol team as the season ends
As we say goodbye to another busy summer, today marks the final day for our seasonal Beach Patrol team. We'd like to thank our fantastic team for their hard work, dedication and commitment in keeping residents and visitors safe along Arun's coastline.
The continuous warm, dry weather from May onwards brought large numbers of visitors to our beaches and the team worked hard to continue patrolling our foreshores in such hot conditions and succeeded in saving many people's lives - returning them to their loved ones.
Their friendly presence on our seafronts has helped thousands of people enjoy the coast safely, making a real difference to everyone who visits our beaches.
As we head into autumn and winter, we wish you safe and enjoyable visits to the coast. Please remember, if you see someone in trouble in or near the sea or find yourself in difficulty - call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
Thank you to all the team for helping make Arun's beaches safe, welcoming and enjoyable for all.
From 1 October, seasonal beach restrictions are lifted, and dogs and horses are once again welcome in previously restricted areas of our beaches. Please clean up after your dog and help keep our beaches safe and enjoyable for everyone.
